EDINBORO — Traveling back to Edinboro University for the second weekend in a row, the Bradford boys indoor track team found several individual bests in the closing weeks of the season.
Enzo Aiello was the Owls’ top finisher, claiming fifth place in the pole vault with a height of 11’2”, his best recorded score yet. Brayden Frair and Kayden Tessena also had personal bests, both in the mile. Frair claimed ninth with a time of 4:42.55 while Tessena finished at 5:07.14. Tessena also had personal bests in the 800 meters at 2:14.01 while Joe Caruso ran the 3000 meter for his career best of 10:09.29.
The 4×200 relay team of Aiello, Tessena, Kamil Chen and Cavan Drake posted a personal record of 1:48.42, good enough to claim 19th place on the day.
The 4×200 team also had their best effort with a 1:48.42 for 19th place.
On the field, Jeremiah Long had his longest throw ever in the shot put, landing a 34-10.
“This was a good effort but we lost Brayden Frair due to an injury. He will have to sit out our last meet this weekend but should be ready for the opening of our outdoor season on March 4,” said Bradford head coach Tom Tessena. “We also should be getting one of our top sprinters and hurdlers back by then, Logan Kohler was injured in the second meet of the season after setting two class records in the 60M and 60m High hurdles.”
The Owls close our their indoor season at Youngstown University this Saturday.
GIRLS INDOOR TRACKYOUNGSTOWN — The Bradford girls’ indoor track and field team traveled to Youngstown University on Saturday, showing progression and development in the final stretch of the season.
Alexia Corignani ended with the highest placing of the day, earning 12th in the 60 hurdles with a time of 10.09. In the same event, Alyssa Mangold came in 21st and Aliya Corignani finished in 42nd.
The 4×800 relay team of Caitlyn Taylor, Jenn Bouquin, Jouleen Weimer and Aliya Corignani earned 13th at 12:31.09 and the quartet of Marissa Newman, Mangold and both Aliya and Alexia Corignani came in 15th in the 4×200.
Eliana Curcio came in 15th as well for the triple jump at 30-0.25 and Sophia Lama came in 24th in the shot up at 26-4.75.
“We showed a lot of improvement over the past two weeks. Alexia had an outstanding 60 hurdle race making the finals and our two freshman hurdlers Alyssa and Aliya ran well and our 4 x 200 team had an excellent race,” said Bradford girls head coach Larry Stillman.
The Lady Owls’ final indoor meet is this Saturday, where they will once again travel to Youngstown.
