(TNS) — The husband of slain Instagram influencer Alexis Sharkey, a Warren County native, was found dead early Wednesday in Fort Myers, Florida, according to reports.
U.S. Marshals confirmed to southwest Florida’s ABC 7 that Thomas Sharkey, the influencer’s widower who was accused in her killing and faced a murder charge, was found dead inside his daughter’s home. U.S. Marshals arrived at the residence to take Thomas Sharkey into custody, the station reported. Authorities with Lee County Sheriff’s Office told the station the man died of an apparent suicide.
The body of Alexis Sharkey, also known as Alexis Rosinbault, was discovered along the Interstate 10 frontage road near Eldridge in November of 2020, Houston Police initially reported.
She had been strangled and left naked on the side of the road, only to be discovered by a city employee cleaning the area, according to the Houston Chronicle’s Nicole Hensley.
In the early days of the investigation, Thomas told Houston’s ABC 13 that his wife wasn’t as happy as she appeared online.
He also said he was confident that Houston police detectives were “going to find everyone that was involved.”
“There’s always other sides to everything,” Thomas said in December. “I was the one holding her, cuddling her, and building her back up. I don’t need to set the record straight. I’ll let it play out the way it is. I know what my life was with my wife.”
No information about the charge was immediately available. Alexis, who was 26, was known for showing off beauty products on her Instagram page, amassing thousands of followers by the time she died.
