AUSTIN — A series of events have been set for this month at Sinnemahoning State Park.
From 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday will be a Plant ID hike. Spring wildflowers are in bloom and trees are getting their leaves. Everything is green again. Join a park educator and learn where plants are found in the park. Meet at the Wildlife Center.
From 10 a.m. to noon Sunday will be a Kids Craft of coffee filter flowers. Stop by the Wildlife Center classroom and make a flower while learning about the park’s diversity of spring wildflowers.
On May 24, from 7 to 8 p.m. will be a campground movie of Charlie and the Curious Otters. Bring the family to the campground amphitheater and join a park educator for the showing of the PBS Nature special.
On May 25, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. will be a kayak nature tour. Take a relaxing paddle out on the lake in search of wildlife and peaceful morning recreation. Borrow the park’s kayaks and equipment or bring your own. Open to participants age 10 to adult. Group size is limited. Meets at the lake day use area. Pre-registration is required.

On May 26 from 9 to 11 a.m., a breeding bird walk will take place. Learn about the ongoing Pennsylvania Bird Atlas project and spend the morning looking for and documenting breeding birds with a park educator. Meets at the Wildlife Center.
From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. will be a kids’ craft: otter mask. Join a park educator at the Wildlife Center Classroom to learn more about river otters and make an otter mask.
On May 27, pontoon tours of the Stevenson Reservoir will be held. Group size is limited. To reserve a seat, please pre-register. Pre-registration is not required but is strongly recommended. There is no fee for regular Sunday interpretive pontoon boat tours, but donations are requested. Tour times are 9 to 10:15 a.m., 10:30 to 11:45 a.m., and 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Meet at the lake day use area. Registration at https://events.dcnr.pa.gov/sinnemahoning_state_park.
