Jean Johnston

Jean A. Johnston, 72 of 52 W. Warren Road, Custer City, passed away Saturday (April 26, 2025) at Buffalo (N.Y.) General Hospital.

Born Nov. 5,1952, in Bradford, she was the daughter of the late Fino and Anne M. (Grill) Franco.

Jean attended school in Lewis Run, and graduated from Bradford Central Christian High School.

On Nov. 22,1986, in Bradford, she married the love of her life and best friend, Craig H. Johnston, who survives.

Jean was a part-time bookkeeper for DeFrank Appliance. Her greatest joy in life was being with her grandchildren. Jean had a love for cooking and camping. Surviving in addition to her husband, Craig, of 38 years, are one son, Michael J. Givan, and one daughter, Katie (Jeffrey) A. Schneider, both of Bradford; four grandchildren, Kayla, Tanner, Brody and Brooke; one brother, Tom (Elaine) J. Franco of Batavia, N.Y.; one nephew, Thomas (Sarah) J. Franco; and one niece, Sarah B. Franco.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by one brother, John Franco.

There will be no public service at Jean’s request.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
