Roethlisberger shares two QBs he likes most in 2025 NFL Draft
(TNS) — The Pittsburgh Steelers are in the market for a quarterback ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. Former Steelers star Ben Roethlisberger says that there are two quarterbacks in particular that he is a fan of in this year’s draft class.
Roethlisberger appeared on his Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger podcast earlier this week and shared that former Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart and former Ohio State QB Will Howard impressed him this past season.
Roethlisberger admitted that he didn’t watch every quarterback in the 2025 draft class closely, but he is a believer in Dart and Howard.
“I’ve watched him play a few games, and I really liked what I saw from Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss. It just seems like he’s got a gunslinger mentality but he can run. There’s just something there,” Ben Roethlisberger said. “I really like the kid Will Howard from Ohio State. I just think he’s a winner. And by me saying that, the kid at Louisville [Tyler Shough], I never got to see him play, so I don’t know anything about him. I know they really like him. “I got to see Shedeur Sanders a little bit, I got to see Cam Ward a little bit. So I’m just going to hit on the Jaxson Dart and the Will Howard.”
As Roethlisberger said, what he likes most about Will Howard is that he is a winner. Howard led Ohio State to the national championship this past season, bouncing back from tough losses to Oregon and Michigan to win it all.
Howard made a mistake at the end of the Oregon game in the regular season, letting the clock expire without getting off a play, but he rebounded and played a big part in the Buckeyes crushing Oregon in the College Football Playoff.
“I just love the fact that, to me, that’s a winner,” Roethlisberger said. “That’s a guy that made a mistake. I’m sure he’s thinking to himself, like, ‘I let the guys down, I let my team down, I let the fans down, the coaches, myself, my family. I’m not letting that happen again.’ And he ends up running the table and winning a national championship.” As for Jaxson Dart, he had a really good year at Ole Miss, leading the Rebels to a 10-3 record.
Dart put up impressive stats, but he did struggle in a loss at Florida that ultimately cost the Rebels a spot in the CFP.
Roethlisberger didn’t love what he saw from Dart at the NFL Combine, but he was impressed with him when he watched him in games this past season and believes he can be a successful NFL quarterback.
“When I was watching some of his games, it’s like, man, he could just make the ugly look good. And I’m not saying he’s perfect and no one is. But there were just some things that I was really impressed with how he played the game,” Roethlisberger said.
“Now when I watched him at the combine… I wasn’t impressed at the combine. Almost like, ‘Man, I don’t know.’ Now to me, what was more valuable is the game. That was way more valuable than sitting where it’s pretty and not looking good.”
