TENNIS St. Marys 4, DCC 3 DUBOIS — Blake Hoffman and Brandon Henry improved to 3-0 in doubles and Kai Caskey and Dakota Cousins improved to 2-0 as St.
Marys claimed a hardfought win over DCC Wednesday.
“We have a lot of work to do. The win exposed some of our problem areas almost like a loss would. Blake gave great effort at times but could not sustain rallies long enough to upset Fragle.
Gavin gave up another big lead in the first set and overcame that,” St.
Marys coach Tim Henry said. “Jacob was one of the bright spots at three singles. He has been looking forward to being healthy and his mental and physical strength showed nicely today.
“Other bright spots were three doubles where our freshmen keep improving because they have the passion to keep raising their level of play.
Hoffman and Henry also shook off their singles struggles to regroup and play nice doubles together again. DCC is a strong team in the areas that we need to improve on.
I hope our guys noticed that in tonight’s match.
We will work hard to be better in the upcoming weeks.”
