Bradford Track suffers tough loss to DuBois
The Bradford Owls lost to DuBois by a score of 73 to 77 Tuesday. DuBois won the last event of the day, the 1600M relay by a scant margin of .72 seconds, 3:35.04 to 3:35.76 .
“We ran our fastest time of the year but still lost the race and the meet. Logan Kohler, Kadyn Tessena, Danny Marasco, and Brayden Frair ran pretty well with Marasco running 52.54, Frair did 50.76, Tessena ran 55.02 and Kohler ran 56.98,” Bradford coach Tom Tessena said. “Our handoffs weren’t as clean as they could have been and that cost us two or three full seconds. We also lost out on a second place by .17 seconds in the 400M and .39 seconds in a close race for a 3rd place in the 800M. Those three races cost us 9 points and added up to only 1.28 seconds total. This was a hard way to lose but we learn a few lessons I hope.
“We did have some very good performances. Junior Enzo Aeillo won the pole vault with a jump of 13’3”. This tied him for 9th place on our All Time list. Enzo is a hard worker and right now we really don’t have a pole Vault coach so he is doing this on his own basically.”
Frair had three first places, winning the 400M, 800M, and running on the winning 3200M relay with Joe Caruso, Evan Troisi, and Kadyn Tessena. Caruso also took 1st in the 1600M and 2nd in the 3200M while Troisi placed 2nd in the 1600 and 3rd in the 3200. Tessena placed 2nd in the 800M and 3rd in the 400M. Logan Kohler was 1st in the 110M HH(15.90) and 2nd in the 300M IH(43.50). He also ran in the 400M relay with Enzo Aeillo, Jeremiah Long, and Fabian Sherk.
“We got beaten by DuBois but ran our best time (45.87) of the year. DuBois has the best sprinters by far in the district. They ran a 43.54 in this relay and placed 1,2,3 in both the 100M and 200M,” Tessena said. “They will do this at Districts as well. That will give them 44 points and a huge advantage in the team competition.”
Bradford swept the long jump and triple jump with Danny Marasco (20’3” and 42’2.75”), Marcus Terwilliger (19’3.5” and 41’6.5”), and Fabian Sherk ( 40’5” and 18’8”). Marcus also placed second in the high jump (5’10”) and third in the 300M IH(45.08).
Sherk also placed in the high jump (5’8”). Cooper McGee took third in the pole vault(10’6”).
“DuBois was also quite good in the throws with a clean sweep in the Shot, Javelin, and discus behind Junior Noah Crawford.
We only managed a third in the Javelin and Shot with Andrew Giordano,” Tessena noted. “Giordano also placed 2nd in the Discus(116’ 4”) and Joe Cary grabbed 3rd (113’6.5’).
“We had quite a few personal bests today: Enzo Aeillo and Cooper McGee in the pole vault( 13’3” and 10’6”), Miles Bundy in the Shot and Discus(30’10.5” and 107’11”), Jake Whitlow in the javelin( 115’7”), Kamil Chen in the 1600M(5:21.72) and the 400M(58.0), Sam Kakolewski in the 100M(12.70) and the 200M(26.93), Dom Dac Pos in the 100M(12.37) and the 200M(26.13), Noah Mackey in the 110M HH(20.73) and 300M IH( 51.00), Preston Neel in the Discus(101’2”), Cole Sloan in the 400M (63.07), Malyk Harpster in the 400M(60.0) and the 800M (2:23), Lucas DeCasper in the 100M(13.27), Miles Hawk in the 3200M(12:52.08 and Grayson Daughtery in the pole Vault(6’6”).
Most of these guys have had a chance to compete because this was only our 2nd dual meet and the invitationals are very hard to qualify for.
“We have our work cut out for us for Districts with Punxy, Clearfield, St. Marys, and DuBois all really talented this year.
We only have about 3 weeks to get ready and that is not much time,.
Our next meet is on Friday at the McDowell Invitational. This will be another tough test. I think today helped us but it was painful. We just have to work harder and become more focused on our events.”
