Bradford’s Frair brings home wins in 800, 1600
Bradford Senior Brayden Frair continued on his torrid pace by winning the 1600M(4:30.88) and the 800M(1:58.52).
“That 800m time was the 5th best ever run by a Bradford runner. Brayden is now only 2.08 seconds off that record,” said Bradford coach Tom Tessena. “For good measure he ran 51.0 on his 400 meter leg in the 4x400M relay where he ran with Logan Kohler, Kadyn Tessena, and Danny Marasco to take 6th place. Brayden continues to push himself everyday and he thrives on good competition. “
Junior Enzo Aiello won the pole vault with a personal best of 13’0”. This was almost a foot improvement. The day was not a good day for this event and that made his performance even more impressive.
“Enzo really works hard in practice and it showed today. We are very proud of him and he is doing this with very little coaching as well. Those other 3 guys in that 4x400M relay were busy,” Tessena said. “Danny Marasco placed 5th in the triple jump(41’4.25”) and 6th in the long jump(19’11”). Logan Kohler placed 4th in the 110m HH(16.50), 5th in the 300M IH(44.75), and ran in the 4x100M relay with Enzo Aiello, Jeremiah Long, and Fabian Sherk where they placed 9th(47.35) just missing a medal. We were hindered by several bad handoffs.
Sherk was also very busy taking 2nd in the triple jump(41’8”), 5th in the long jump(19’11”), and 13th in the 300M IH(47.14). Long also ran the 100M(12.51) and threw the javelin(112’3”). Kadyn Tessena, Evan Troisi, Jordan Hogue, and Joe Caruso placed 3rd in the 4x800M relay(9:06). Tessena also placed 13th in the 800M(2:13.14) While Caruso was 10th in the 1600M(4:49.77) and Troisi was 8th in the 3200M(10:49.44).
Junior Marcus Terwilliger had a strong day. He placed fifth in the high jump(5’8”), 9th in the triple jump(40’2.5”) for a personal best, and 11th in the long jump(18’11”). Most of our guys do3-4 events every meet and that is not easy to do. The weather did prevent us from doing even better time and distance wise. The wind and the cold temperature was tough to deal with today.
“Our throwers didn’t have their best day but still managed to score a few points. Landon Davenport placed 6th in the discus(115’11), Joe Cary was 7th in the discus(115’10”) and 8th in the javelin(131’4”). Andrew Giordano was 6th in the javelin(137’11”) and 11th in the Shot Put(37’2.5”),” Tessena said.
Sophomore Sprinter and high jumper Tyler Simmons was injured running the 100M where he did place 7th but was unable to do his other three events. We don’t know exactly how bad the injury was or if he can get back before District. He is a huge part of this team and would have made a big difference today in the team score. We but battled all day with McDowell and Fort Leboeuff finished 3rd in the 20 school field. We did score 82.5 points and placed in 14 of the 18 events. This was great experience where the guys could see the score throughout the day on their phones. It really showed them how everyone has to do their best if we are going to win as a team. This is really a good experience for our big District Meet coming on May 16. Our home meet with Brookville has been canceled because of weather so our next meet is the Butler Invitational on Thursday. This is the top invitational we will go to this year.
