Passengers trapped on plane freed thanks to Steelers’ Bradshaw
There was good news and bad news for passengers on a recent flight to Pittsburgh.
The bad news was that the door was stuck for about half an hour. The good news is that they can thank Steelers legend Terry Bradshaw for breaking them free.
According to CBS Pittsburgh, the 76-yearold NFL legend helped save the day on a recent flight from Dallas-Fort Worth when the door of the plane failed to open after landing.
“The pilot announced, and you could kind of hear he was chuckling as he said it, but he said ‘Thanks to the strength of one of our passengers, we were finally able to get the door open’ and so I think we all knew he was alluding to Mr. Bradshaw,” passenger Selah Gamble said to CBS Pittsburgh.
Bradshaw is a legend in Pittsburgh. The Pro Football Hall of Famer led the Steelers to four Super Bowl titles from 19751980.
Bradshaw is a familiar face for NFL fans these days. Since 1994, he’s been a co-host of Fox’s Sunday NFL pregame coverage.
It’s been a while since Bradshaw was in playing shape. So when he suggested that he could help get passengers off the plane by forcing the door open, Gamble didn’t think he was serious.
“I mean honestly I was just ready to get off the flight, but the guy next to me had made the joke that they should have him bust down the door and I was like, well maybe he could a few years ago, so I’m definitely eating my words,” Gamble said to CBS Pittsburgh.
Bradshaw was heading to Pittsburgh to take part in a roast of former teammate Mel Blount. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Bradshaw and Blount winning the first of their six Super Bowl titles.
