Colorado QB Sanders details his visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers: ‘It was a 10’
(TNS) — Shedeur Sanders’ visit to the Pittsburgh Steelers seemed to go as well as it could have.
Sanders rated the visit a ‘ten out of ten’ in an interview with Kay Adams from Pittsburgh International Airport. During the meeting, Sanders says he talked with head coach Mike Tomlin and compared him to his father, Deion Sanders, the head coach of Colorado and a Hall of Famer.
“You understand the mindset and why they win a lot,” Sanders said. “You see how (Mike Tomlin) is as a person and the values the team has. What he preaches from his staff down is similar to my dad.”
Sanders, an always-confident player, says that if he goes to the ten win Steelers, it will be other teams making that mistake for allowing him to land there.
“That’s on the people,” Sanders said. “That’s on the other franchises that could make that mistake of letting me go there.”
Sanders says the team had no discussions about four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who the Steelers are still waiting to hear a final answer from, ideally before the NFL Draft.
Yet, if they signed Rodgers and selected Sanders, he says there will be no problem.
“If that’s the way that things play out, then that’s the way they play out,” Sanders said. “I wouldn’t question what God has planned for me.”
Sanders, who started at Colorado from 2023 to 2024, was once thought to likely land in the top three picks of the 2025 NFL Draft; however, in recent weeks, his stock has plummeted. It now appears far likelier that Sanders could be there for the Steelers at No. 21.
