Big 30 names Wrestling All-Stars
The 2025 Big 30 All-Stars have been named, and Port Allegany received ‘Team of the Year’ honors and also had seven wrestlers named to the all-star squad.
“It felt pretty great. I’ve been coaching 15 years, and this is the second or thirrd time (Port Allegany) has been nominated. It’s a pretty big deal. There are a lot of schools in the Big 30, so this is a good achievement for us to have,” Port Allegany coach BJ Greenman said. “I always tell the kids it’s harder to be a Big 30 All-Star than a league All-Star or region/state qualifier, with the number of schools in the Big 30 and the different competition between NY and Pa.”
Port Allegany wrestlers who made the Big 30 All-Stars include four seniors, a sophomore and two freshmen.
Senior Ian O’Shea has been recognized as a Big 30 All-Star for the third time in his wrestling career. O’Shea plans to continue wrestling after high school.
Aiden Bliss placed third at States, with only two losses to the State runner-up and a loss to a wrestler who he faced previously and beat twice.
Carson Neely is the first Port wrestler to place at States three times. He placed fourth, fifth and then eighth this year due to a torn ACL that required him to default out of the tournament. Neely is recovering after surgery to repair the tear. Neely plans to continue wrestling at Clarion University after graduation.
Juuso Young finished sixth at states after qualifying for the first time. This year was also Young’s first year wrestling at 215 lbs. Previously his brother, a 2024 graduate of Port Allegany high school, held the slot. Young wrestled a weight class down in previous years.
Sophomore Ian Fitzsimmons finished sixth at Regionals, just out of the top four that qualify for States. This is his second recognition as a Big 30 All-Star.
Freshmen Brennan Fillhart and Brandon Ferguson round out the Port Allegany All-Stars.
Fillhart finished fifth at Regionals, losing a close match and making him the first alternate to go to States. Ferguson, meanwhile, tied the freshman win record for Port Allegany with 34 wins and broke the freshman fall record with 20 falls during the 2024-25 wrestling season.
“This is the most we have ever had (recognized as Big 30 all-stars). Last year was the most we ever had before this,” Greenman said. “It shows how good of a team we are top to bottom. We really didn’t have any holes in our lineup this year, which is how we were able to take First at districts and go to the State dual tournament,” Greenman said. “I’m excited for next year, of our 7 all-stars, four will be back. It will be good to see them back and see how they do. And, we have a lot of other good young kids coming up through.”
The other 2025 Big 30 All-Stars include: Jordan Thompson (Bradford); Kamren Anderson (Randolph); Tegan Sibble (Bolivar-Richburg); Gary McDowell Jr (Bolivar-Richburg); Dominak Clark (Randolph); Caden Inkley (Randolph) and Tavyn MacDonell (Bolivar-Richburg).
