An appeal hearing set for Tuesday before the Bradford City Board of Health lasted only a few minutes when the appellant didn’t appear or call in.
The hearing was for 25 Race St., owned by Marcelyn Taft of Warren.
Tyler Hannah, counsel for the board, said Taft was elderly, had said she was unable to attend a meeting but was told she could call in or make arrangements to appear by video.
He noted that she had been called twice and did accept a certified letter.
As of the meeting time Tuesday, no one in the property maintenance department had heard from her, he added.
The property had been condemned in June 2019 and was deemed a public nuisance in January. At that hearing, health director Brandon Plowman said, ‘The roof has collapsed in several areas,’ adding he would consider it a dangerous structure.
‘The amount of water infiltration has caused severe structural damage and is causing the floor joists to deteriorate.’
Plowman said water service for the property was discontinued in 2017.
The board dismissed the appeal.
The next board meeting will be 5 p.m. April 15, when a status conference will be held on the building at 39-43 Mechanic St. and five additional properties will be considered as public nuisances.
