Bradford Tennis defeats ECC; Port Allegany, St. Marys claim track wins
ST. MARYS — The Bradford boys tennis team advanced to 4-0 on the season with a 5-2 win over ECC Tuesday.
Bradford claimed wins at 1,2 and 4 singles and 1 and 3 doubles in colder and somewhat windy conditions to defend their undefeated status.
Results: SINGLES Cooper Haight (B) defeated Bradyn Pistner, 6-1, 6-0 Mason Close (B) defeated Frank Messineo, 6-2, 6-1 Julian Lanzel (ECC) defeated Owen Manion, 6-3, 6-1 Landon Lohrman (B) defeated Simon Darnisch, 6-0, 6-1 DOUBLES Haight-Close (B) defeated Pistner-Messineo, 8-2 Eddy Silvis-Gage Wilmouth (B) defeated Lanzel-Darnisch, 8-0 Carter Colley-Trey Curcio (B) defeated Max Messineo-Dave Toman, 8-4 HS TRACK BOYS PORT ALLEGANY 98, SMETHPORT 52 SMETHPORT — Port Allegany’s relay teams and Isac Amell’s two firsts helped secure Port Allegany’s win Tuesday.
Both the 400 and 3200 relay teams claimed victories for the Gators, while Amell finished first in both the high jump and long jump. Wins in the pole vault from Austin Hamilton, shot put from Ethan Tarbox, 300 hurdles from Isaac Postlewait and Josh Veilleux in javelin gave Port the victory.
Leading Smethport were Dunn and Bailey, who each claimed first in two events. Dunn claimed the 200 and 400meter dashes, Bailey won both the 800 and 1600-meter runs.

Lehmier won the 200-meter dash, 800-meter run, 1600-meter run and 300m hurdles, while Smith claimed first in shot put and discus. Port Allegany also finished first in both the 400 and 1600 relays.
Smethport’s Madey McKean claimed first in the pole vault and high jump Tuesday.

Marys swept the throwing events and won the pole vault and two of the three relays to secure the win.
Bradford’s Alyssa Mangold tripled (100 hurdles, long jump, 400 relay) and Emma Pilon doubled (high jump, 400 relay) in Tuesday’s matchup.
“It was a good meet with a strong Saint Marys team. We had many good performances,” said Bradford girls coach Larry Stillman.
“Alyssa Mangold won three events and had an outstanding long jump.
Alyssa won the 100 hurdles and Aliya Corignani won the 300 hurdles and along with Olivia Funk, all three of our hurdlers looked good.
“Our 4 x 100 relay had a very good time for this early in the season. Emma Pilon won the high jump and Grace Close the triple jump. Miley Swanson won the 800 with a solid time and freshman Addison Benson won her first varsity race by winning the 3200. Sophia Lama took second in the shot put with a personal best by over a foot.” The Lady Owls will travel to Kane on Tuesday.
