Orsini honored with Golden Stethoscope Award
Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), Kaleida Health facilities, presented the first semiannual 2025 Golden Stethoscope Award to Dr. Jose Orsini.
An intensivist specializing in critical care, Orsini is a physician in the intensive care unit (ICU), who started at OGH in 2023.
The Golden Stethoscope Award is a result of nominations from employees and presented semiannually to a physician who exhibits an exceptional level of professionalism, integrity and teamwork in caring for patients and families, as well as interacting with hospital staff members and fellow physicians.
The award is presented to one physician throughout BRMC, OGH and physician practices who meets the standard of providing high-quality patient care.
“Dr. Orsini is the definition of what an outstanding physician should be. He treats every patient as if they are the most important patient in the hospital. His dedication, compassion and commitment to excellence make a real difference in the lives of those he cares for. He not only delivers exceptional patient care but also fosters a culture of teamwork and mutual respect. He actively listens to staff, values their input and works collaboratively to ensure the best possible outcomes for his patients,” said his nomination.
Orsini’s nominations, representatives said, shared the common theme that he knows what it means to place patients and their families first.
“Families frequently express their appreciation for Dr. Orsini’s attentiveness and his willingness to engage in meaningful conversations. Even in the most challenging and emotional moments, his empathy and professionalism help families process difficult news with clarity and understanding.”
“Dr. Orsini is an excellent educator, continuously challenging nurses to expand their critical thinking skills. His willingness to teach, explain complex cases and mentor staff promotes an environment of continuous learning and excellence,” said one nomination. “Dr. Orsini has made a remarkable impact on the ICU, positively influencing patients, staff and the overall ICU culture. His ability to bring a team together, communicate effectively, and provide top-tier patient care makes him a true asset to Olean General Hospital.”
Orsini earned his medical degree from Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña and a bachelor’s degree from Colegio Dominicano De La Salle, both in the Dominican Republic. He completed his post-graduate training in internal medicine at Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. He went on to complete fellowships in infectious disease at Westchester Medical Center and Metropolitan Hospital Center, Valhalla, N.Y., and critical care at Montefiore Medical Center and Jack D. Weiler Hospital, Bronx, N.Y.
