The Bradford Area Chamber of Commerce has announced this year’s nominations for its Annual Awards.
‘We have been doing the Annual Awards for at least 25 years now,’ said Heidi Scrivo, executive director. ‘It is a great way to recognize businesses and people in the community who are positively impacting Bradford.’
The community submitted more than 40 businesses and individuals for consideration this year.
They have been pared down to 13 nominees.
For the Exemplary Business Award, the nominees are The Guidance Center and Alleghany Industrial Insulation Co.
Nominees in this category must have operated locally for at least five years, have provided a quality product or customer service, shown a focus on sustainability and demonstrated strong economic support for the area.
For the Small Business Award, the nominees are Athena Nutrition, The Pennhills Club, CJ Bar-B-Que & Catering, Learn Love Laugh Childcare and Chad and Tanya Hayden. Nominees in this category must have been in operation for at least two years and have fewer than 25 employees.
For the Community and Spirit Award the nominees are Mary Jo Hardy, Mark Lonzi and Destinations, Bright Alternatives and Willow Creek Sportsman’s Club.
This category is for people or organizations with volunteers who have made a significant positive impact.
‘These are people or organizations that have shown civic pride through actions which place service above self,’ said Scrivo.
The Legacy Award recognizes people who have made a significant impact for 10 years or more. This year’s Legacy Award nominees are Fred Proper and John Vanerstrom.
‘This is a great way to let people know they are appreciated,’ said Scrivo.
‘A lot of times people don’t realize how much of an impact they are having.’
