CAT & MOUSE: This year, the slapstick antics and never-ending chase of cartoons Tom Cat and Jerry Mouse turned 85.
The duo was created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera for MGM Studios in 1940, and went on to become one of the most recognizable duos in the world. There’s not much dialogue, as the cartoons rely on physical comedy and exaggerated situations for humor.
Tom is usually the frustrated pursuer while Jerry is the clever trickster.
