ST. MARYS — ECC claimed an 88-25 win over Youngsville Friday, guaranteeing its spot in the next round of the PIAA Class 1A playoffs.
Keying ECC offensively were Wil Wortman with 28 points,Chase Simbeck with 15 and Marcus Muccio with 12.
The Crusaders scored 33 points in the first quarter and 27 points in the second to take a 60-20 lead at the half, a deficit that Youngsville could not fight back from.
Leading Youngsville were David Manning with eight points and Rodney Rowland with six.
ECC returns to action Tuesday in Round 2, playing The Neighborhood Academy, details to be determined.
The Neighborhood Academy defeated Shanksville-Shade 95-32 Friday to advance.
Cameron County wins to advance to Round 2
In the night’s other Round 1 matchup involving a local team, Cameron County defeated Forbes Road 60-46 to advance, where they will face LaAcademia Charter Tuesday.
Johnsonburg falls to Turkeyfoot Valley, 84-70
SOMERSET — Colt Rugg scored 21 points to lead Turkeyfoot Valley to a win over Johnsonburg.
Also keying the Turkeyfoot Valley offense were Zach Ryan with 20 points, Bryce Nicholson with 19, and Lance Jones with 17.
While Turkeyfoot Valley only held a one-point lead at the half (40-39), They used a 28 point fourth quarter to guarantee the win, outsourcing Johnsonburg by eight in the final eight minutes of play.
Leading Johnsonburg was Jude Schreiber with 18 points, Cade Peterson with 18 and Noah Stauffer with 17.
