HARRISBURG (TNS) — If you have this car, just know that you might be eligible for a juicy check thanks to a class action lawsuit that took place last year.
The lawsuit’s resulting settlement means some drivers might get as much as $12,000.
It was announced in October 2024 that General Motors — without acknowledging any wrongdoing — had agreed to a $35 million settlement in a class action lawsuit regarding a defective high-pressure fuel injection pump known as the “CP4.”
A press release from JND Legal Administration explained how the lawsuit concerned 2011-2016 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks that use a Duramax diesel 6.6L v8 LML engine. These engines contained that defective CP4 fuel pump, which could have lead “to catastrophic failure” that cost “owners…economic damages.”
According to La Grada, anyone who owns the aforementioned models in multiple states — Pennsylvania among them — might start receiving between $6,356 to $12,712 some time this year.
The same article explains that those eligible to receive such payments must have purchased the GMC Sierra diesel or Silverado trucks from March 1, 2010 to September 13, 2024 from a General Motors dealer in Pennsylvania as well as the other impacted states. The same La Grada article notes that these payments will be made for any repairs not covered under warranty.
Even people who no longer own a General Motors vehicle might be eligible to receive up to $800.
Anyone who believes they are entitled to receive a portion of this settlement must file a claim here. The deadline to file is July 21, 2025.
