Walter Green
Walter L. Green, 74, of Bradford passed away Tuesday (March 4, 2025) surrounded by his loving family, at Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital.
Born July 25, 1950, in St. Marys, he was a son of the late Guy Kenneth and Margaret Ann (Hackett) Green. He attended school in St. Marys.
On March 19, 1970, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until his honorable discharge on Nov. 7, 1971. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 devices, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and the Meritorious Unit Citation.
Wally began working at Keystone Powdered Metal during high school, after the service he returned to Keystone Powdered Metal in St Marys. In 1998 he moved with the company to Bradford and began working at the facility in Lewis Run, where he was employed for 55 years.
Wally enjoyed going fishing, camping, thrift store shopping and spoiling his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Robin, whom he has been with for 26 years; one daughter, Kristin (Chris) Brady of Bradford; one son, Joel (Christi) Legawiec of Dayton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Genevieve Legawiec, Cael Legawiec, Kyla Brady and Sara Brady; and two “adopted grandchildren,” Kayla and Annabel Taylor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Leroy Brady.
Family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Friday (March 7, 2025) at Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 33 South Ave., where funeral services will immediately follow with the Rev. Terri Niver, pastor of First Wesleyan Church, officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home with the U.S. Army and Bradford Legion Post 108 honor guards.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the American Heart and Lung Association, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
