A Bradford man will face charges in McKean County Court for assault and for allegedly calling 911 on the police who were at his residence.
Adam Priest, 37, is charged with criminal attempt at strangulation, a second-degree felony; simple assault and resisting arrest, second-degree misdemeanors; and two counts of harassment, summaries. Those charges were held to court by District Judge Rich Luther on Wednesday.
Priest waived a hearing on charges of communications with 911, a third-degree misdemeanor, and harassment, a summary.
According to the criminal complaints, on Nov. 20, Foster Township Police were called to Priest’s residence for a verbal domestic disturbance. Two officers were in the house, and Priest was being confrontational, swearing and yelling at the officers and opening the door and telling them to get out. While he was yelling at the police, he said he was going to call 911. The officers told him he would be charged for doing so, but he did anyway. He smacked the officers and remained aggressive.
He was arrested, and was free on $2,500 bail when the second incident took place. On Jan. 18, Priest attacked his parents in their Euclid Avenue home. When police were attempting to arrest him, he physically resisted, causing officers to have to carry him from the home. After he was finally placed in a patrol car, police spoke to the victims, who described the brutality of the attack on them, the complaint stated.
Priest was remanded to jail on $50,000 bail in the case. He is represented by Assistant Public Defender Rob Kinnear.
