A Bradford woman remains incarcerated in McKean County Jail for allegedly hitting another woman in the face with a hatchet.
Tanya Graves, 35, of 1 Main St., Apt. 8, is charged with aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; and simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor.
At 2:16 p.m. Jan. 29, Graves chased another woman from an abandoned structure on High Street into an apartment on Elm Street where the victim was hiding. The victim had grabbed a hatchet for protection, but Graves grabbed it and struck the victim in the chin with it twice. The victim let go of the hatchet and Graves threw it at her, striking the left side of her lower lip, causing a third laceration, the criminal complaint stated.
Graves left the residence. The victim left the residence, carrying the hatchet as evidence, and was taken to the hospital for treatment. She received stitches and a CT scan.
Graves waived a preliminary hearing before District Judge Rich Luther on Wednesday, and returned to jail on $30,000 bail. She is represented by Public Defender Phil Clabaugh.
