Haven’t we seen enough of our government agencies to know that Elon Musk and, yes, Donald Trump do not have our best interests in mind?
Musk has just begun to attack agencies that offer safety and financial security to our lives. Real or perceived threats to Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, vaccine regulations, scientific research to cure chronic diseases, Head Start, aid to disabled students and even Meals on Wheels could just take us back to the worst parts of the 1950s.
Clearly, cutting and downsizing programs like these is not the way to “make America great again.” It is a way to weaken the already weak and to control us through fear. Democracies don’t work this way.
I hope that now that we’ve seen four weeks of the Trump administration, we will be moved to call our representatives in both houses to demand that Musk must be controlled. I am not opposed to getting rid of government waste, but I am opposed to downsizing agencies where people’s jobs are to keep us safe in all parts of our lives. I’m sure that this isn’t what people who voted for Trump voted for.
Project 2025 scared me and confirmed for me that I could not vote for Trump. Now that we realize how dangerous this 900-page document is, we need to tell our representatives that enough is enough. They must stop this madness.
