Last year, Thon set a record by raising $16,955,683.63, almost $2 million more than the $15,006,132.46 brought in during the 2023 event.
The reveal came at the end of the 46-hour dance marathon at the Bryce Jordan Center, where no sitting or sleeping is allowed. Every year, hundreds of Penn State students dance, play games and more to raise money to support Four Diamonds, which funds pediatric cancer care and research at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital.
Doors opened at 4 p.m. Friday for the dance marathon participants, and the event kicked off at 6 p.m.
The event is “a culmination of yearlong fundraising and awareness efforts to support children and families impacted by childhood cancer,” according to the Thon website.
