(TNS) — There’s commuters. Then there’s this “super commuter.”
A woman claims she flies to work everyday because it somehow “saves money.”
According to The Economic Times, Rachel Kaur — an Indian woman who lives in Malaysia — has eschewed the rigamarole of driving to her job as an assistant manager at AirAsia’s finance operations department by flying instead. She flies five days a week, and gets up at the crack of dawn to make it on time.
For context, the New York Post explains how Kaur’s job is in Kuala Lumpur. Should she drive there, it would take nearly four hours; by plane, though, it’s 40 minutes.
“I have two kids, both are growing,” Kaur said. “My oldest is 12 and my daughter is 11.
“With them growing I feel…the need for the mother be around more often. And, with this arrangement, I’m able to go home every day and be able to see them at night.”
Now, one would think that working for AirAsia would entitle one to some flying perks. Unfortunately, that’s not the case, and Kaur must pay for the full ticket price herself.
The Economic Times adds that — when it comes to Kaur’s claims of cost efficiency — flying is far cheaper than renting a house close to her office. She also gets some “me time” on her daily flights.
Kaur also hasn’t taken to the idea of working remotely, either.
“Being surrounded by people… it’s easier to get a task done,” she explained. “You know… when you’re able to communicate with people face-to-face.”
