Pennsylvania State Police responded Wednesday to reports that an individual had jumped off Kinzua Bridge at the state park near Mount Jewett, finding the victim deceased below the bridge.
McKean County Coroner Mike Mascho confirmed to The Era on Thursday that 23-year-old Madison Lister of Mount Jewett had died after jumping from the skywalk.
State police reported no foul play is suspected. The police and coroner were assisted on the scene by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC), Mount Jewett Volunteer Fire Department and McKean County detective.
The Kinzua Bridge Skywalk, built on six of the viaduct’s restored original towers and currently closed for maintenance, is a pedestrian walkway that leads to a 225-foot high observation deck overlooking the Kinzua Creek Valley.
