KUTZTOWN — Former Bradford resident Michael P. Gabriel has published his fifth book, “The Canadian Campaign, 1775-1776.”
The book is the second volume of the Center for Military History’s “The U.S. Army Campaigns of the Revolutionary War” to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the War for Independence. In late summer 1775, two American armies led by Richard Montgomery and Benedict Arnold invaded Canada in an attempt to remove the British threat to the northern frontier and get the Canadians to join the Revolution. Although the invasion ultimately failed, the Canadian invasion bought the American revolutionaries critical time to strengthen their cause, declare independence, and gain valuable experience for the long war ahead.
The book is available at the Center for Military History’s webpage.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Clarion University, his Master of Arts at St. Bonaventure, and his doctorate at Penn State. He is the son of the late Dr. Frederick R. Gabriel, and Elizabeth B. Gabriel, and has family in Bradford. Gabriel, his wife Sandy, and daughter Katie reside near Kutztown.
