RECORDS: The Philippines has a 114-foot-tall hotel shaped like a rooster. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, it’s the largest building shaped like a chicken.
That, along with several other rather silly feats, made the 2024 list of the strangest world records.
Fastest 10 meters on a skateboard by a cat: Bao Zi, an American shorthair cat, skated 10 meters (32.8 feet) in 12.85 seconds.
Most rice grains eaten in one minute using chopsticks: Sumaiya Khan of Bangladesh ate 37 grains of rice, one at a time, in one minute.
Most gaming consoles connected to a single TV: Ibrahim Al-Nasser of Saudi Arabia connected 444 gaming consoles to one TV. He used more than 30 RCA switchers and more than a dozen HDMI switchers to hook them up. And a spreadsheet to keep track of what is needed to play each one.
Most items identified by a parrot in three minutes: Apollo, an African gray parrot who lives in Florida with his owners Dalton and Tori Mason, identified 12 objects in three minutes, including a book, a sock and a figurine of Super Mario’s nemesis, Wario. Apollo has a TikTok following of 2.8 million people.
Highest car bungee jump: Laurent Lasko, a professional stuntman, jumped a Nissan Qashqai e-Power from a height of 213 feet and 3 inches.
Largest tongue circumference: Sacha Feiner of Belgium measured 17 cm (6.69 inches)
Largest collection of Squishmallows: Sabrina Dausman of Illinois collected 1,523 Squishmallows. She’s 27, and has been collecting since 2019.
Longest paddling journey by pumpkin boat: Oregon man Gary Kristensen hollowed out a pumpkin he dubbed Punky Loafster and took a 45.67-mile journey down the Columbia River to break this record.
