JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — SUNY Jamestown Community College recently entered a partnership with CareerStep, an online educational organization that provides training for in-demand healthcare careers.
CareerStep programs prepare students for industry-recognized national certification exams leading to meaningful employment. In addition to preparing students for entry-level careers, CareerStep’s programs of study also allow students to transfer course credit back to certificate and degree programs in healthcare at JCC.
The following programs are currently offered through this partnership: Dental Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Assistant, Medical Coding and Billing Professional, Medical Office Manager, Medical Records Specialist, Medical Scribe, Medical Transcription Editor, and Pharmacy Technician.
These trainings are on the Eligible Training Provider Lists (ETPL) in Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties for those looking to qualify for funding.
The self-paced on-line learning experience with CareerStep includes onboarding to review course expectations; walking through the training process; discussing goals; 24/7 assistance via call, chat, text, or email; technical support; learner groups and discussion boards; instructors who are industry experts; and career path support.
“Our partnership with CareerStep is a game-changer for the students and the communities we serve,” said Christine Schuyler, JCC’s Healthcare Initiatives program director. “By combining CareerStep’s flexible, self-paced learning with JCC’s commitment to community education, we are opening doors to in-demand healthcare careers and creating a path for individuals to build brighter futures for themselves and their families.”
