A Millerton man is in Potter County Jail for the alleged sexual assault of two female teens in 2022 in West Branch Township.
Michael Keith Wales, 41, is charged with criminal attempt at statutory sexual assault and criminal solicitation of statutory sexual assault, first-degree felonies; three counts each of statutory sexual assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, four counts of unlawful contact with a minor-sexual offenses, and four counts of unlawful contact with a minor-prostitution, all first-degree felonies; one count of aggravated indecent assault, a second-degree felony; four counts of promoting the prostitution of a minor- encouraging a minor, and four counts of promoting prostitution of a minor – soliciting, all third-degree felonies; two counts each of corruption of minors and criminal use of a communication facility, third-degree felonies; and four counts of indecent assault of a person less than 16, second-degree misdemeanors.
Coudersport-based state police said that on Dec. 19, they were notified of a statutory sexual assault in West Branch Township in Potter County in 2022. Two minor female victims were identified, ages 15 and 16, who said they came to know Wales through social media.
Wales was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Christopher Kalacinski and remanded to jail in lieu of $150,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 10.
Assisting in the investigation were the Mansfield-based state police, state police Northeast Computer Crimes Unit and FBI Williamsport.
