Looking to make that perfect Valentine gift for your special someone? Or maybe you just want a new painting to brighten up your space. Come on down to the United Way of the Bradford Area’s Paint and Dip event to be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Bradford Area Public Library.
Talented artist and teacher Michelle Huber Chapman will demonstrate how to paint a pink floral picture with acrylic paint on canvas that is perfect to celebrate the coming springtime.
Tickets to the event will be $40 per person, which includes snacks, drinks and all the art supplies needed to craft your own masterpiece. All proceeds benefit the “Back to the Community” Campaign. This is the event’s second year.
“We used to do a regular ‘paint and sip’ where it would include access to alcohol but we decided to take a different approach,” said Sarah Lonzi, executive director of the United Way of the Bradford Area.
Lonzi hopes that eliminating alcohol from the situation will encourage families to participate together.
“We figure that families with younger kids might be more comfortable coming into this type of situation,” Lonzi said. “We wanted to make this available to everyone because it truly is a fun evening.”
Chapman regularly teaches group painting classes.
“She has a nice following of individuals who like to participate in her classes,” said Lonzi. “She does a great job and provides all the painting supplies.”
For the cost of registration, guests will be given refreshments and guided through the art of painting acrylic on canvas. Come and explore your creative side in a lighthearted group setting.
“I believe she will have extra materials so if anyone wants to join on the night of the event they are still able to,” said Lonzi.
This will be a final fundraiser, wrapping up UWBA’s Back to the Community Campaign which began last year. Because of this, people are encouraged to register by the end of this week. They can register by stopping in to the United Way office at 161 Main St. in Bradford, sending an email to sarah.lonzi@uwbanews.org or messaging the United Way of the Bradford Area’s Facebook page.
The Back to the Community campaign strives for community betterment. Funds raised during the campaign provide necessary support for many local initiatives. Throughout the 2024 fiscal year, UWBA supported 37 local programs that addressed various issues including education and health.
“We will be announcing the totals for the campaign on Saturday,” said Lonzi. “Every dollar raised will stay right here in our local area and help our neighbors who need it most.”
