OLEAN, N.Y. — SUNY Jamestown Community College’s Workforce Development on the Cattaraugus County Campus will hold two short-term courses during the spring semester in electrical fundamentals and computer-aided design and manufacturing.
The Electrical Technician program runs from 4-8:30 p.m. two to three nights a week from Feb. 17 to May 2.
The training includes an overview of electrical safety, tools, circuits, and maintenance, and hands-on experience in troubleshooting and automation. Participants will explore advanced concepts like relay logic, variable frequency drives, and practical calculations, culminating in a project that emphasizes real-world problem-solving in an industrial context.
Previous electrical experience is preferred.
The Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing Programming training runs 12:30-3:30 p.m. Feb. 10 to May 5. An online class is also available.
Students will learn to model a component to drawing specifications using a variety of modeling tools in Fusion software and also how to manipulate existing components to change dimensions. CNC machining and computer skills are required.
