A Bradford man has been jailed for the alleged arson of a Bradford Township residence in October.
Karl J. Ginnery, 40, of 76 Holley Ave., is charged with arson – danger of death of injury, a first-degree felony; arson – intent to destroy an unoccupied building, a second-degree felony; reckless burning or exploding, criminal mischief – intent to damage property with recklessness or negligence, and criminal mischief – damage property, all third-degree felonies; and recklessly endangering another person, a second-degree misdemeanor.
According to the criminal docket, the arson took place Oct. 14 in a vacant house at 163 W. Corydon St. According to the complaint, Ginnery and Thomas “TJ” Saltsman shot flare guns at the house, causing it to catch fire.
On the day of the blaze, the Bradford Township Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the reported house fire at 6:50 a.m. Also dispatched on the initial alarm was Bradford City Fire Department for standby and tankers from Lewis Run and Corydon Township volunteer fire departments to the scene.
Additionally, Lewis Run, Corydon Township and Lafayette Township fire departments were on standby at their stations. The state police fire marshal unit and Bradford Township police investigated the fire. Firefighters were on scene for three hours. Bradford Township Police, Bradford City Police and the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Police assisted with traffic control. West Corydon Street was closed for approximately three hours.
Ginnery was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Rich Luther and remanded to jail in lieu of $150,000 bail. He is scheduled for Central Court on Jan. 30.
Saltsman has pleaded guilty in McKean County Court to one count of arson – intent to destroy an unoccupied building. He is scheduled for sentencing on Feb. 27.
