SMETHPORT — A Wilcox man was sentenced recently in McKean County Court to at least 13 years in state prison for the sexual assault of a 13-year-old female in Wetmore Township.
John Hodgdon, 54, was sentenced to 13 to 26 years in state prison, plus three years of consecutive probation on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, and child pornography/sexual abuse of children. He is not eligible for any early parole programs, reported District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer.
He is to have no contact with the victim or the victim’s immediate family or unsupervised contact with juveniles, provide DNA, register as a sex offender for lifetime and other terms. He was charged following an investigation by Trooper Anthony Tettis of the Ridgway-based state police.
According to the criminal complaint, on Oct. 23, 2023, and having sexual contact with her when she was 13 and he was 52. While in the wooded area, Hodgdon photographed the girl and state police found 29 pictures on his electronic device.
