We’re about at the midway point of the regular season in high school basketball, and a lot has already been accomplished, with much more to follow.
Bradford boys celebrating 30th anniversary team
Bradford is 4-8, but there is still reason to celebrate this Friday with the 30th anniversary celebration of the 1994-95 district champion team. Expect a big crowd for this game since the talk of the town used to be all about this group.
The current Owls just came off of a competitive loss against a quality Cameron County team. They are young, not starting a single senior. Coach John Bennardi is confident the team is going in the right direction.
Otto-Eldred boys continue to roll
The Terrors are living up to their name because they are terrorizing their competition. They are 12-0 with recent wins over Smethport, Oswayo Valley, and Austin by a combined score of 260-51.
The only games that were even somewhat competitive were against Randolph and Cameron County. Those games were still 25-point and 11-point wins for Otto-Eldrred.
This group is almost entirely composed of seniors. That gives this team plenty of motivation to enjoy these last couple months of ball.
Otto-Eldred girls get huge win over Port Allegany
Otto-Eldred defeated Port Allegany 45-36 Monday, making it a tie between the Terrors and Gators atop the North Tier League Standings. The boys’ team may be getting a lot of the attention, but the girls deserve some as well, as they are continuing to get better and better.
The Terrors are getting good performances from Ayla Van Scoter, Addie Bell, and freshman Baylee Francis, as well as Carrie Drummond and Rayel Hakes, among others. Their only loss was to the Gators in the first game of the season, which has now been avenged.
Bradford girls hoping to keep showing improvement
The Lady Owls have definitely taken strides this season, but they lost three straight after being 6-3. Friday night, they suffered a tough three-point loss to Brookville. Fortunately, they got back to a winning record with a win over Cameron County on Monday.
There is a lot to look forward to with sophomore star Haley Keane and other young players being around for the next couple years. They are enjoying being more competitive now, and they could be laying foundations for even more success.
