SMETHPORT — A brief meeting of McKean County Commissioners Tuesday morning saw two grants accepted and a tax exemption request from the City of Bradford tabled for more information.
A Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency grant for $47,000 was approved for the McKean County Children’s Advocacy Center. A Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency grant for cybersecurity was approved as well.
The other matter was a request for tax exempt status from the City of Bradford for a parcel of land valued at $210,190. The reason was the building belongs to the municipal government. The commissioners tabled the matter to gather more information.
Following the meeting, Bradford City administrator Eric Taylor said the request was for the new police station on West Washington Street, at the former site of Northwest Bank.
Also at the meeting, Commissioner Chairman Tom Kreiner announced new employees: Mathew Goldsmith, IT system tech; Barbara Reynolds, clerk typist 1, Prothonotary; Dane Kio, sheriff’s deputy; and Jamie Minderler, intake officer, public defender.
The next meeting of the commissioners will be at 10 a.m. Jan. 28.
