The investigation into the weekend shooting death of an Emporium man during a residential eviction remains ongoing.
Thomas Krivonyak, 63, was shot and killed at 182 Trailer Court Drive at 6:58 p.m. Saturday, according to Emporium-based state police. While police know the identity of the shooter, no arrest has been made.
State police said a known male was serving Krivonyak with an eviction notice when a physical altercation ensued. Krivonyak placed the male in a choke hold, and the male pulled out a gun and shot Krivonyak, who police said died at the scene.
On Thursday, state police said no further information was available.
Cameron County District Attorney Paul Malizia said, “The investigation is ongoing.”
State police listed the shooting as a homicide. When asked about an arrest of the shooting suspect, the prosecutor said, “I’m reluctant to say much.”
He said they are awaiting the results of an autopsy before deciding how to proceed.
He commended the state police’s investigation on the scene of the shooting, explaining, “They were very thorough.”
