A few of our grandchildren visited recently. Our oldest, a 12-year-old, is a Donald Trump fan. He supports the election results, not because he listens to his parents or to his Papa (me). His Christian beliefs, manners, politeness and concern for others guides him.
Being an avid reader, he enjoys “The Bucktails” series by the local author William Robertson. We got a kick out of him and Tyrus (Fox News) being the only people who (to my knowledge) “guaranteed” Trump would win the presidency. A theme our family enjoyed, due to our grandson’s principles and kindness, his constant research and looking into new things as he grows, fascinates us.
Last week at his karate class a fellow student removed my grandson’s Trump hat, which I had given to him, stating, “You should throw this out,” and holding it over the trash bin. Our grandson’s response was simple: “YOU better not; give it back, NOW!” The issue was over — but I write this knowing our little man would have never acted so mean or bullied another.
The episode left me one thought: Who will grow to be a better American? But I already know that answer.
