JANUARY: With apologies to those with important celebrations this month, doesn’t January — with its post-Christmas let down and often worsening weather — just kind of stink?
We took to the internet to see if anyone shared our feelings, searching “keep January interesting.” There were a lot of results. We’re intrigued.
January is a great time to enjoy outdoor winter activities like sledding, ice skating, skiing, snowboarding, building a snowman, hiking, and winter camping. We’re in the perfect place to take part in those activities.
There were a lot of silly celebrations that could bring some laughter into your life.
Take the time this month, on Jan. 13, to mark the birthday of Rubber Ducky, the bathtime companion of Ernie from Sesame Street. Celebrate nostalgia, remember childhood and honor the innocent fun a rubber ducky can bring to a child.
January 8 is National Bubble Bath Day, along with all of these — Argyle Day, Coming of Age Day, National English Toffee Day, National Gluten-Free Day, and National Winter Skin Relief Day.
National Clean Off Your Desk Day: Celebrated on the second Monday of January, this day is a time to create a clean slate.
Jan. 14 is National Dress Up Your Pet Day. Grab those annoyed little kitties and doggies and squeeze them into a costume. Make sure to take some photos for social media. The look on their faces makes the whole thing worthwhile.
Jan. 20, inauguration day, is also National Penguin Day and Take A Walk Outdoors Day. Perhaps a zoo visit? It’s also National Cheese Lover’s Day. Yum.
Jan. 24 is Talk Like A Grizzled Prospector Day. (We’re thinking Stinky Pete from Toy Story 2).
There’s fun to be had, if you just give it a try.
