I was very dismayed upon reading the article in the Era concerning the four- and five-figure “bonuses” given to county employees making five- and six-figure salaries. Perhaps the lamest excuse was Marty Wilder’s, “It’s either spend the money with bonuses or give it back,” even though there were “other allowable uses” that weren’t specified.
First, there is nothing wrong with returning taxpayers’ money to the treasury to be spent for a greater good; secondly, Ms. Wilder, contrary to her campaign, has proven herself to be just another tax-and-spend Democrat rather than an advocate for her constituents.
I do thank Jody Bloomquist for his willingness to go against the tide and stand up for the constituents. Perhaps Mr. Bloomquist can enlighten us as to all of the “other allowable uses” that weren’t specified.
