Two Bradford men were jailed Tuesday following arraignment for smashing a restaurant window and stealing a 15-pack of beer from inside.
Jesse J. Lee, 21, of 15 Kennedy St., Apt. 1, and John P. Perkins, 19, of 3 Marion Ave., Apt. 3, were apprehended early Tuesday morning after Bradford City Police were dispatched for an attempted burglary at Slice of the 80s on Congress Street.
At 12:09 a.m. officers responded to the area where the suspects were reported, and were detained by an officer. Behind the two was a 15-pack of Budweiser beer on the sidewalk. After identifying the suspects, an officer went to Slice of the 80s to inspect the damage. The front window was smashed and a large amount of glass was on the sidewalk below it. The hole in the window was directly in front of where the beer was displayed in the restaurant, according to the criminal complaint.
Rocks were observed near the window. The two men were taken to the police station for questioning. A witness told police that Perkins had broken the window and taken the beer. Police said he had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person, the complaint stated.
Lee threw rocks at the window and was carrying the stolen beer away from the scene, according to the complaint.
The two were arraigned before District Judge Bill Todd and each was remanded to jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Lee was charged with burglary, a second-degree felony; criminal mischief – damage property, a second-degree misdemeanor; theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, third-degree misdemeanors.
