The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men’s basketball team had a team member recognized by the AMCC on Monday as Freshman Braylen Salters was selected as the conference’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Salters was dominant for the Panthers as he averaged 29.5 points, 3.0 steals and 2.5 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week. In the AMCC Game of the Week against Hilbert, Salters exploded for 35 points on 12 of 23 from the field, including 4 of 10 from beyond the arc. He also added 7 of 9 from the charity stripe. In addition to scoring, he also grabbed 4 rebounds and stole the ball 5 times.
The freshman from Richmond Heights, Ohio, has stepped right into a starring role for Pitt-Bradford. Through eight games, he leads the Panthers in scoring (20.6 ppg), 3-point field goals (22), and steals (26). He is 3rd in the AMCC in scoring and 2nd in steals.
The Panthers are off to their best start since joining the NCAA and are 8-0 through the Fall portion of their schedule. They will return to action on Sunday, December, 29th with a tough challenge at Wooster’s E.M. Mose Hole / Wooster Kiwanis Classic.
