Ten properties in the McKean County tax claim repository were considered for sale by Bradford City Council on Tuesday.
Three of the properties — 228 South Ave., 77 W. Corydon St. and 294 South Ave. — were on the agenda for denial of sale. With information from the property maintenance department, council denied selling them.
No action was taken on seven others, which had been on the agenda to approve for sale.
Mayor Tom Riel, contacted after the meeting, explained, “We want to look into some of the potential buyers more before we vote on them.”
Those properties were 90, 92 and 100 Maplewood Ave., two on North Bennett Street and two on Jackson Avenue. Two of the potential buyers were from New York state.
Also at the meeting, council passed on second reading the 2025 wage ordinance, setting the rates of pay for city officials; and on first reading, the solid waste ordinance, raising garbage fees by $1.50.
Council also approved a four-year contract with the AFSCME union, representing workers in city hall. An easement was approved for Penelec at 11 E. Corydon St. for the Area Transportation Authority Multimodal Facility.
Council also approved permission for the Department of Accounts and Finance to pay routine bills.
An enterprise zone loan agreement was entered into with Joshua Kahle for $60,000 for the renovation of two upstairs apartments at 11 Kennedy St., and a downtown revolving loan agreement for $8,500 was approved for Abigail Leposa for startup expenses for a new business at 125 Main St.
Grants were approved to assist city residents with home repairs. HOME funding of $60,205 was granted to William Roggenbaum for 18 Marion Ave.; a hardship grant from HOME funding of $4,500 to Cindy O’Neil for 229 Barbour St. as a change order to address additional work found in the rehabilitation of her residence; and an additional $1,400 from a hardship grant from HOME funding to Susanne Gaze to address additional work found in the rehabilitation of her residence.
The remainder of the city’s ARPA funds, totaling $30,540.29, were transferred to the city’s capital reserve account to be put toward the city’s new police station on West Washington Street.
The city’s final meeting of the year will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 30.
