SMETHPORT — Emma Haynes connected for 25 points as Northern Potter picked up a win over Smethport, 44-22, in the NTL opener for both teams.

Haynes scored 17 of her 25 points in the second half, including 12 in the third quarter, as the Lady Panthers (1-0 overall, 1-0 North Tier League), went from a 15-11 halftime lead to a 31-15 advantage after three quarters.

Jaylyn Williammee added six points for the Lady Panthers in the win.

Payton Neff had a strong game for Smethport with 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, while Madelyn McKean had four points for the Lady Hubbers.

Neff also had four rebounds, while McKean dished out five assists.

BOYS

DUBOIS 56, J’BURG 43

JOHNSONBURG — Maddox Bennett scored 19 points as DuBois beat Johnsonburg, 56-43 in the season opener for both teams.

DuBois led 22-13 at halftime, with Bennett scoring 14 of his points in the second half to help the Beavers to the win.

Parker Calla paced Johnsonburg with 12 points, while Jude Schreiber had 10, and Noah Stauffer and Aiden Demay tallied eight each

Trey Wingard was also in double figures for DuBois with 12 points.
