A brief electric outage Wednesday morning affected more than 2,000 Penelec customers in the Bradford area.
Approximately 2,300 local Penelec customers had their service interrupted just after 9 o’clock. Penelec spokesman Todd Meyers said dispatchers reset equipment using remote-controlled switches to restore power at about 9:26.
Crews patrolled the company’s power line that supplies electricity from Lewis Run to the region’s substations, looking for a downed tree or something else contacting the lines, but were unable to locate a cause.
“That is the same line that runs through wooded terrain where we removed more than 1,000 off-right-of-way trees earlier this year that we thought might pose a danger to our poles and wires and cause outages,” Meyers said. “We also used the aerial saw to trim that same line.”
He said the outage remains under investigation.
