Draws abound during Round 1 of Varsity Division play in the Bradford Businessmen’s Chess League. Still, A Slice of the ’80s (captained by Ben Gross) emerged as the early leader with three teams tied for second. Round 2 games are in progress online.
Team captain Aiden Ferguson ushered Dr. Wojcik to the lead in Round 2 of the Junior Varsity section. Hamlin Bank (captained by Daria Cavallo) and Sera Enterprises LLC (captained by Aaron Luce) trail by only half a point.
Earning the maximum 2 points for their teams this week are second board JV players Sean Kramer, playing for Sera Enterprises LLC; Caleb Nolder, playing for Dr. Gonzalez; and Carter McAndrew, playing for Tasta Pizza.
The Bradford Businessmen’s Chess League will take a break for the Thanksgiving holiday and return for its next matches Dec. 4 at School Street Elementary.
