SMETHPORT — A Kane man was convicted of gun violations following a one-day jury trial in McKean County Court.
Robert Copley, 49, was convicted of two counts of possessing firearms when he is prohibited.
He was charged by Kane Police Chief Heath Boyer after a citizen reported to him that Copley brought two firearms to his residence in 2022 when he is not permitted to possess guns due to a prior conviction. Following the testimony at trial, Copley was convicted on both counts, said Disrtict Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer.
He is scheduled for sentencing Jan. 3 before Senior Judge James Arner, who heard the case. Assistant District Attorney Greg Henry prosecuted the case; Public Defender Phil Clabaugh represented Copley.
