Local players won a number of major awards as District 9 released its all-star football teams for all three of its regions.
The Region 2 champion Port Allegany Gators were all over the major awards, as Aiden Bliss was named Offensive MVP, Carson Neely Offensive Lineman of the Year and Juuso Young Co-Defensive Lineman of the Year along with Brockway’s Ben Yale. Kane’s Matt Bodamer was named Coach of the Year in his first season guiding the Wolves.
In Region 3, Otto-Eldred’s Shane Magee was named Offensive MVP, Coudersport’s Danny VanVladricken Defensive MVP, Otto-Eldred’s Charlie Minard Offensive Lineman of the Year, Cameron County’s Landon Farren Defensive Player of the Year and Otto-Eldred’s Troy Cook Coach of the Year.
In Region 1, Central Clarion nearly swept the major awards in Region 1, as Jase Ferguson was named Offensive MVP, Jimmy Kerr Offensive Lineman of the Year, Hayden Hindman Defensive Lineman of the Year and Davey Eggleton Coach of the Year. Punxsutawney’s Beau Thomas earned Defensive MVP honors.
A pair of Bradford Owls, Carter Colley (defensive line) and Brody Haviland (punter) were Region 1 all-stars.
