A Bradford man waived a hearing Thursday on arson charges alleging he burned down a vacant house using a flare gun while under the influence of methamphetamine.

According to the criminal complaint, at 6:50 a.m. Oct. 14, Bradford Township fire and police were dispatched to 163 W. Corydon St. for a house fire. A state police fire marshal said the fire had been intentionally set with flares shot at the house. Empty flare cartridges were found by a trail leading into the woods and into the city of Bradford.
On Oct. 29, Bradford City Police contacted the township police. While assisting Potter County Probation, city police came into contact with a woman at a West Corydon Street residence where a flare gun and flares were found. She said they belonged to a friend of her boyfriend, Saltsman. Police interviewed Saltsman, who said he and his friend did shoot the flares at the residence that burned, but said he was under the influence of meth at the time, the complaint stated.
Saltsman remains incarcerated in McKean County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bail. He is represented by Public Defender Phil Clabaugh.
