A hospital executive from an integrated system in Maine and New Hampshire — and who has experience leading hospitals in north central Pennsylvania — has been named the new president of Bradford Regional Medical Center and Olean General Hospital, Kaleida Health announced Monday.
Bradley Chapman, who has served as president of MaineHealth Memorial Hospital in Conway, New Hampshire, since December, will take over as president of BRMC and OGH after the first of the year. Kaleida said Chapman, who served as president of Penn Highlands Elk in St. Marys from May 2017 to October 2023, while also leading Penn Highlands Clearfield from April 2022 to October 2023, was hired after a nationwide search for the position in the Twin Tiers.
Both Pennsylvania hospitals are acute health care facilities.
Chapman will take over from Cheryl Klass, interim president and chief operating officer. Klass will remain on until Chapman is acclimated into his role to ensure a smooth transition when he starts on Jan. 6, Kaleida said.
He will be responsible for the oversight of daily hospital operations of BRMC and OGH, along with the ancillary locations and network of physician practices all of which employ more than 1,200 physicians, nurses and staff.
“Bradley’s diverse experience in an organization that correlates to an integrated multi-state hospital system helped to position him to be the frontrunner to succeed this role,” said Don Boyd, president and CEO of Kaleida. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of financial, quality, and service improvements in a rural healthcare environment. His work will be invaluable to the organization as we continue to enhance integration efforts throughout all our Kaleida Health sites.”
Boyd added, “Bradley will play an important role as we continue to strengthen our relationship to improve efficiencies, reposition services for growth and financial sustainability, enhance quality, and leverage the continuum of care across Kaleida Health.”
Olean General and BRMC became affiliates of Kaleida Health in 2017.
Chapman earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration as well as his master’s in business administration from Niagara University. He also has a certificate in health care leadership from Le Moyne College in Syracuse and he is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
“On behalf of the board of directors we are excited to welcome Bradley to our organization,” said Dr. Muhammed Javed, board chairman of Upper Allegheny Health System, which operates the hospitals within the Kaleida system. “Under Bradley’s leadership, we will continue to progress our local health care system as he is a forward-thinking, strategic executive that will bring a fresh new perspective.”
