CLEARFIELD — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) updated a posted weight restriction on a Route 3002 (Cowley Hill Road) bridge spanning Cowley Run five miles west of Austin Borough in Portage Township.
Effective Oct. 7, this posting is updated to a 20-ton weight restriction for single vehicles and 31 tons for combination vehicles.
PennDOT updated this weight restriction following an inspection Sept. 24. It replaces the previous 13-ton weight restriction for single vehicles and 21 tons for combination vehicles.
PennDOT Potter County Maintenance crews repaired the beams of this bridge the week of Aug. 5. Those repairs led to the updated posting.
This 49-foot structure, originally built in 1943, carries an average of 550 vehicles daily and is scheduled for replacement during the 2029 construction season.
